Introduction to My Role at Axis Insurance
Kai Kristiansen, Commercial Lines Assistant
My journey to Axis Insurance began at a virtual career event. The session was short—only 15 minutes—but impactful. During this time, about ten thoughtful questions were posed to me, focusing on career growth and aspirations. One question, in particular, asked where we saw ourselves in the future and how that aligned Axis’s future. This focus on personal development stood out to me as a key indicator that Axis was a place where growth was valued. That brief interaction gave me the confidence to apply and explore further.
This experience also reinforced the importance of networking when going for a job search. While resumes and cover letters are essential, connections often open doors that otherwise might remain closed. Engaging directly with Axis head recruiter gave me direct access to company opportunities, which became invaluable during the application process.
My first week at Axis exceeded my expectations in a great way. The onboarding process was seamless, combining training modules and group learning sessions that were both engaging and specifically tailored to my role. One standout experience was meeting teams from several different departments, which made me feel connected (especially in a virtual setting) and valued. These introductions helped me feel like a part of the organization right from the start. The collaborative and inclusive environment, paired with structured training, reinforced my initial impression that Axis was the right place for me.
These early experiences have provided a strong foundation for my co-op term. I’m eager to build on this foundation, exploring my skills in communication, project management, and continuous learning throughout my time with Axis.
