Challenges I faced with large projects & remote work
Kai Kristiansen, Commercial Lines Assistant
Navigating challenges has been a defining part of my work term at Axis Insurance, allowing me to develop resilience and adapt to both professional and interpersonal obstacles. One of the most significant hurdles I faced was managing a high-pressure task involving agribusiness accounts, while another was staying connected as a remote employee.
The agribusiness project involved over 100 cannabis company insurance policies that needed urgent adjustments to match updated commission structures. With many accounts up for renewal, the task was highly time-sensitive. To handle it, I created an Excel sheet to organize the accounts by date, ranking them based on renewal dates and task complexity. This method ensured I focused on the most urgent tasks first, meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality. The project taught me to stay calm under pressure and rely on structured tools to tackle large-scale tasks.
Working remotely came with its own set of challenges, particularly in staying engaged and connected with my team. Without in-person interactions, it was easy to feel isolated or hesitant to reach out. However, an in-person team-building event made a huge difference. Spending time in person helped foster meaningful relationships, and since then, I’ve felt more confident reaching out to my peers for support or casual conversations.
These experiences have not only strengthened my ability to manage high-pressure tasks but also shown the importance of maintaining connections in a remote work environment, skills I will carry into my future career.
