Task managment
Kai Kristiansen, Commercial Lines Assistant
Managing projects and tasks effectively has been a key part of my role as a Commercial Lines Assistant at Axis Insurance. One of the tools that has made this possible is the Bin System, which helps me organize my workload while also providing my team, manager, and account managers with visibility into how much we have on our plates. This system has been effective in ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and transparently.
A particularly chaotic week before our company Christmas party showed the importance of this system. Emails were flying in, and our team faced a surge of urgent tasks. To stay on track, it was critical to prioritize items from most to least important and urgent. Using the Bin System, we focused first on quick-turnaround tasks like certificates of insurance before gradually tackling more time-intensive items like proposals and endorsements. This structured approach ensured that everything was handled with care without compromising quality, even during a hectic week.
One project that stands out from my term involved managing the renewals for over 200 non-profit accounts. This assignment included drafting renewal emails, processing renewal applications, and generating invoices. It was a useful project because it allowed me to become more familiar with our CRM software, Epic, while also working on my email communication skills. By the end of the project, I was able to complete tasks with greater speed and confidence, demonstrating how consistent practice can lead to solid improvement.
These experiences have not only strengthened my project management skills but also shown me the value of staying organized and focused under pressure. I look forward to applying these lessons to future challenges in my career in many ways.
